Best Margarita Ever

Many people prefer the convenience of bottled margarita mixer, which is readily available in stores, to fresh squeezed lime juice when making this Mexican cocktail. While certainly not as fast and easy as pouring the pre-made beverage over tequila, fresh lime juice and Cointreau is the key blend to a perfect Gold margarita. It's this simple and delicious:

1 1/2 oz. Cuervo Gold tequila
1/2 oz. Cointreau
1 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice

Cheers!

Pomegranate Cosmopolitan

After a cold snow day there's nothing like a yummy pomegranate cosmopolitan cocktail by the fire.
2 shots Vodka
.75 shot Cointreau liqueur or triple sec
1.5 shot POM pomegranate juice
1 shot fresh lime juice
Lime wedges, optional for garnish
Combine vodka, Pom juice, Cointreau and lime juice in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake or stir mixture, then strain into chilled cocktail glasses.
Garnish with lime twist, if desired.
CHEERS!
Thanks to Jeffrey for the inspiration! And add 1 shot of cranberry juice to make it even better.

Ruby Red Vodka

Mixed with club soda and a splash of cranberry juice, ruby red (grapefruit infused) vodka is going to be my drink in 2009.  What's your drink going to be?

Mad Men Marathon

We're almost finished watching season one of the award winning AMC drama, Mad Men. Not being one to sit around and watch TV (I'd rather sit around the Mac) I'm enjoying the whole retro saga. It just makes me want to smoke and drink heavily. Quite frankly, the male chauvinism so prevalent throughout the advertising industry in the 1960's is reminiscent of my early career days on Wall Street. I'd be a rich woman if I got on that sexual harassment lawsuit bandwagon many years ago.

Island Home

It was one of our longest journeys on I95 North. We passed the time by listening to Stephen King's short stories. Traffic was heavy. Solo was ill. We missed the boat to the island. A little delayed, but very excited to see the progress on our kitchen renovation, we arrived at our island home a little after 8pm. The kitchen looked great except for the installation of the wrong color backslash. Epically disappointing, but over-it-now, for the time being. The tree and house are decorated and cozy. The stockings are hung, gifts wrapped, bread rising, doggies snoring and we are enjoying cocktails before cooking our lobsters and hash browns. Life is very good! Merry Christmas.
