Drama in Sleepy Town

My little Norman Rockwell town had it's first multiple burglary case in 75 years yesterday. Guess who was among the record-shattering statistic? Yes, indeed. The bloghome made news with an afternoon breaking and entering incident. The perp(s) entered the locked garage and my car before being frightened off. It was very unsettling to know that this was going on while I was in the house. The two leashes in my vehicle may have scared them away. Our ferocious Labs were sleeping soundly throughout the break-in.

Facebook Dilemma

It's been fun goofing around on Facebook for the last month or so, but now, with recent developments in the organization making unfavorable news all week, I'm not so sure about the platform.

"Anything you upload to Facebook can be used by Facebook in any way they deem fit, forever, no matter what you do later."

New Arms Race in 2009

Trapped once again in my mental prison of negative thinking, it occurred to me today, when I read about North Korea stepping up missile test preparations, that the rogue country responsible for finally wiping out the U.S., will be celebrated and revered by the rest of the world.

6th Bird Flu Case in China this Year

A couple years ago, the Blogson's pediatrician said this about a bird flu pandemic, "it's not if, it's when."  He was on a number of medical boards and employed by an international drug company, when we had a discussion about the possibility of a pandemic.  In fact, he recommended that we keep particulate respirators handy and wrote us a Tamiflu script for safe keeping.
