With bitter cold temps freezing over much of the country, Florida is experiencing chilly, damp temps and dreary, grey skies reminiscent of the season we left up north. Our home doesn't really have a furnace. So, these days are perfect for cleaning the ovens and seasoning the cast-iron cookware. Stay warm, friends. Take care of yourself and your pans!

Chilly Days in Florida, Too!

Vineyard Blue Water Stains

What's a woman to do? For years, I've been challenged with Vineyard blue water spots on my white bathroom fixtures. Try as I may, nothing really gets them off except elbow grease. Today, I discovered Iron Out. It was left in my cabinet by the construction dudes. I gave it a whirl, and, whoo-hoo, it worked with just a simple swipe! Love products that work!

Simon Pearce, Irish Artisan

In 1971, Simon Pearce opened a glassblowing workshop in Kilkenny, Ireland. Ten years later, Simon moved his operation to Quechee, VT on the Ottauquechee River, where potters and glassblowers still create simple designs for function and durability. It's always such a treat to visit the restored woolen mill, which also features a retail store and a fabulous restauant overlooking the Falls. As a tribute to my ancestors, I always feel compelled to support these artisans by adding to my collection of Pearce's work each year.

Screaming Patty

The blogfriend, Patty, has been known to favor a fabulous variety of artistically arranged antlers in her decorating business. These may just be a little too pristine for her taste, but a clever idea, nonetheless.

Products That Work

It is sheer delight when a product does what it is intended. One product that consistently exceeds my expectations in life is Resolve carpet cleaner. That stuff is amazing, and works every time removing spots and stains from rugs. Now, I'm happy to report a couple of other products that perform beautifully. Recently, I've been using Bumble and Bumble hair prep and the thickening spray before blow drying the mane. Sure enough, my hair appears thicker than ever before.
