With technology changing as rapidly as the sky on a September afternoon in Florida, I keep holding out for the optimal blogging platform. I've been on Blogger since 2008 and have muddled through the deficiencies of mobile uploads, photo formats, video capabilities and other limitations in hopes of moving on to a simple and better option. There are plenty of other blogging solutions but they require an investment of time and money. I don't want to be that committed. Add traveling to remote destinations, where internet is weak or nonexistent, and I struggle with the idea of keeping my blog current.
I feel that I have to make a decision on my blogging future soon. After all, maintaining a blog requires more frequent posting to be relevant. But for now, I'm happy to report we are safe and sound in Missouri. After three weeks in Colorado, we are working our way back to Florida. Once again, hurricane activity is determining our route southeast.

Shattered by iWeb's Demise
Apple created an amazing application many years ago with the introduction of the iLife suite. It was called iWeb and it made building a personal website fun and reasonably easy. With MobileMe, one could self-publish their website online. Business decision after business decision, Apple resolved to do away with MobileMe among other apps, including iWeb. They claimed the program would be phased out on newer versions of their operating systems. Over the years, the app was still available with third party domain hosting, but unsupported by Apple's tech services. Apple continued to send plenty of warnings of iWeb's eventual and permanent demise. And so it happened this week with the Mojave 10.14.6 update. iWeb is unresponsive. I've invested almost 12 years into my personal website and now, it's gone. Perhaps I'll strengthen my coding skills and come back with a vengeance. But for now, my very resourceful website is lost in the cloud. RIP iWeb. Oh well, grateful to have The Blogagerie as a creative outlet and invaluable resource in the absence of my iWeb site.

I am not a Robot
This has to be one of the most annoying aspects of computing these days:
Is that first picture a shadow of a motorcycle. Does that count? Oh brother. What to do...what to do?

Airline Boarding Pass for Mobile Device
Ya gotta love technology! Sitting in my pjs at the kitchen counter, I just checked in for tomorrow's flight to SFO and selected the mobile device option for delivery of my boarding pass. No paper; simply scan the iPhone at the security check and the gate. Now, when will they put the driver's license on the PDA?

New iPhone Comes to Market on my Birthday!!!
Friday is the big day for the arrival of the new iPhone. It just so happens to be my birthday, too. I told the bloghusband that my first generation iPhone is still perfect and still my favorite gift of all time. Why waste money on a new phone? It has voice command, a compass, the cut and paste feature, spotlight search, landscape keyboard and is really, really faster than that first dinosaur!

Facebook Dilemma
It's been fun goofing around on Facebook for the last month or so, but now, with recent developments in the organization making unfavorable news all week, I'm not so sure about the platform.

Digital Stalking: A Big Issue for Teens
Electronic bullying, harassment and stalking is becoming a real problem for teens. There is no protocol established for teens to deal with some of this digital violence, which can include the transmittal of nonstop text messages, cruel comments on Facebook and MySpace, and inappropriate photos via cell phones and email. An ad campaign has been established to encourage teens to set boundaries. ThatsNotCool.com is intended to appeal to all teenagers and offers an area where kids can seek advice on drawing their digital line.

Ya Gotta Love Gizmodo
With the Blogson quickly approaching driving age, here's a certain remedy for one less worry found on the Gizmodo site:
"As we all know, driving while using a cellphone makes for some dangerous driving. Now, a new key fob will allow parents to jam their kids' cellphone while they're behind the wheel.
The idea is that teenagers are both bad drivers and stupid, so they are the most likely group to text while driving over the speed limit. This may be true! But is this the best solution? I mean, aren't there times where you'd want your kid to have access to their phone in the car? Like if they get into an accident? Or get kidnapped? Or need directions? Or any number of other situations? This system gives the kids access to 911 and a preset number, like the parents' phone number, but still."

If you are interested in learning more about Twitter, the online service that allows you enter short messages, here is a comprehensive discussion of the much talked about program. It may be something I have to look into next week. I'll be busy with the gravy this week;-)

WiFi in the Skies
From Gizmodo: "At long last, Virgin America is finally bringing in-flight wireless internet access to its flights. On November 22, a beta flight above San Francisco will be the first to test the service, with it then rolling out to more flights after that at a rate of one per week. The plan is to have Wi-Fi available throughout the entire fleet by early next year, making it the first US carrier to do so."

Great iPhone Shopping List Application
This is such a fun and useful application for the iPhone. What I like best about this little program is the ability to rearrange the store's aisles to match your own grocery store. So each time you add to your shopping list, the items are in exact order of the store's layout; making it a cinch to breeze in and out. Love that! It's only $1.99, too.
